Turnstones
Turnstones are beautiful, and very endearing. They are always on the shore at Preston. Today there were sixty plus. They forage on the tideline, flipping over small stones in the search for small crustaceans and insects. Turnstones though are indiscriminate in their diet and there are records enumerating the things they have been recorded eating – from packets of artificial sweetener to decomposing corpses!
A bit of a miserable day with high winds but we went for a walk to Goodrington, and a toasted teacake..
