Muddy water

Where has the summer gone? I spoke to my cousin in Brisbane earlier and it's warmer there in the middle of winter than it is here in the middle of summer. I was hoping to see some cute ducklings or goslings in the duckpond but there were only a couple and they weren't very cute.
I imagine this useless turnstile dates from when this used to be a boating lake, no idea why they didn't take it away with the rest of the paraphernalia.
The title is from this Mark Lanegan track, seemed to be appropriate for the rubbish day.
