Watford Gap

The motorway services at Watford Gap on the M1 opened with the motorway on 2nd November 1959.  Although there have been many changes in the intervening years, the current owners, Roadchef, have decided it is overdue for refurbishment and have some significant redevelopment plans. 

It is not a service area we use regularly, but it did prove useful some years ago when cruising on the Grand Union canal, which runs alongside the service area.  It is easy to gain access from the towpath and provides valuable facilities for the boater.
