Wound up in Wexford

By Neatwithice

More work begins

The start of a major project for a wildlife pond and surrounding landscaping on the front lawn.

First job - cutting down the evergreen monoculture hedging on two sides.  There's fencing behind the hedge, between us and a field that frequently contains sheep.  But today we discovered that the posts are rotten and will need to be replaced.  It's unclear whether the fence is our responsibility or the farmer - but given that the farmer is the very same neighbour with whom we have a somewhat tense relationship we may avoid the aggro of a discussion and simply effect repairs ourselves.

The hedging will be chopped up for mulch, and once the digger has been and pulled out the roots, will be replaced by mixed (mainly native) wildlife friendly hedging.

As you can see from the photo, not a bad day today, though we have had a couple of heavy rain showers.  We're predicted more rain and wind tomorrow courtesy of Storm Jocelyn, so our gardening team won't be back till Wednesday.

W has finished barricading the daffodil areas in the "woodland" and so we let Husky loose down there this afternoon.
