Tasmania

What a contrast in temperatures. Sydney was about 35 degrees, (although admittedly a lot cooler at 7 am this morning when we departed) Tasmania greeted us with 14 degrees!
The flight was 2 hours and all went smoothly.
The hotel travel lodge in Macquarie street was the 4th drop off on the bus, and the conductor was really friendly telling us a few things about Tasmania.
After checking in, we had a wander around and look around the Tasmanian museum and art gallery. The aboriginal canoe made of bark was interesting, and the stories of personal hardship involving falling out teeth on Antarctic trips. Most interesting to me was a long painting of 180 female convicts where the artist has used their records to paint individual unique speculative portraits.
We stopped at a cafe and had a late lunch which was delicious, very generous sized portions, with a huge pot of tea. I passed a shoe shop and found a size 11 soft soled black strappy sandal ( choice of two!) I was dubious they would fit and was surprised when they did! So I bought them!
At 6 pm we met the guides for our tour, a young lady called J and a young man called Larry. And no other guests are on our tour, which although means we get a personal tour, it also means we don’t get to meet any other interesting people. The four of us went to a nearby restaurant ( Customs House) where we had very generous portions of dinner which apparently all of Tasmania do, I had Tasmanian lobster linguini with spinach and Parmesan.
