A family walk

Today we decided to walk from Dunblane to Bridge of Allan with my brother in law and niece. We walked the old Glen Road that seems to be disappearing bit by bit due to landslide. It has been closed to cars for a long time now and there is a reroute for everything else due to a section that has disappeared and left a gaping hole.

The smell of wild garlic was pungent for most of the way. On arrival in Bridge of Allan we decided to walk through mine wood up to the entrance of an old Copper mine. Copper was mined here from the 17th century. The mineral properties discovered in the local water due to the copper led to the development of Bridge of Allan as a spa town.

Following our peering down the mine shaft using the torch on my phone we were ready for a visit to the Allan cafe for an ice cream, we felt that it was well deserved!

When we arrived back in Dunblane, I checked the app on my phone and we had walked 8 miles, it didn't seem like that......well done Emma, not bad for a 12 year old!
