Lake St Clair

Larry was chauffeur today and drove much faster than Jai. A brief stop at the exact geographical centre of Tasmania, then at a hydro power station. We reached Lake St Clair which is the deepest fresh water lake lake (167m) after 2 hours. We looked around the visitor centre.
A small ferry with a friendly lady skipper whizzed us to near the end of the lake, where she dropped us off, and we walked 3 hours back along the forest at the edge. The temperature was ideal 18 degrees and shady. The walk was full of giant trees and fallen trees, beautiful fungi, mushrooms, and plants. Really interesting and tiring only 6.7 miles but my feet were hurting by the end. I dipped my feet in the lake to cool them off after checking into our cabin.
The meal this evening was a delicious prime cut organic steak steak.
We saw an amazing animal today - an echidna!
