"Is it Spring yet?"
This Large-flowered Pink-sorrel Oxalis debilis aka Pink-woodsorrel seems to believe so. One of my favorite introduced plant species, Pink-sorrel hails originally from South America and is considered a 'cosmopolitan' species since it can now be found on all continents except Antarctica, and I'm betting that it's working on that one as well. It thrives happily in both temperate and tropical areas. I'm sure that fastidious yardners, of which I'm not one, consider it a weed but I appreciate it as the pretty 'survivor' that it is.
