A party
I wanted to share this news that a party has been put on for our dear friend Andy, at his request. He is currently getting excellent care in a hospice in Welwyn, and had requested a party. Nothing is off limits, and the staff and nurses welcomed this for him.
Some of you will recall that in September we went to The Lakes with Andy’s sister Cathy, where Andy’s good friend Angela managed to get him up there for the week, and Jon got him out in a canoe. They followed that with the NC500 trip in October, which was challenging for Andy but a dream he was able to fulfill with the help of friends and family.
Andy then proceeded to complete a virtual 3 peaks challenge on his stairs, raising £20,000 for charity. Hence the banner above his bed ‘Inspirational Andy’ - he truly is!
Today that same family and his closest friends enjoyed a party, complete with piper organised by his sister, and food provided by the hospice. The family had decorated the room with balloons and brought in musical instruments from home, with Andy taking a turn on the bongos! It was lovely to see the videos shared by family, and the joy in the memories they made today.
I thought you’d like to see how he is doing, as many of my friends have asked me.
My day have been busy - definitely no party. I started at 7.45am and ended at 6.20pm
Head is starting to ease. Day off tomorrow. I can’t wait for that sea air.
