Dispensing Frank advice
Uncle Frank was happy for many years with the photographs management software that came with Microsoft Windows.
He downloaded his photos from his Canon 50D with a card reader, organised them in folders, sharpened the odd one and shared the folder with family and friends, all from the one location.
Microsoft decided that it was way too efficient and not onerous enough. So they came up with the truly woeful Pictures. The only aim of the bastard programme is not to help you download, edit and share your photos but to coerce you into signing up for one of the more expensive OneDrive options.
After a bit of head scratching, I found a workflow that will enable Uncle Frank to do what he wants. It just requires 18 steps and a bit of juggling between Windows Explorer, FastStone Image Viewer, OneDriveMeNuts and his Gmail account.
It's a good thing that Frank is not afraid to tackle a problem head on and willing to learn new (convoluted) ways to achieve exactly what he wants. As opposed to what Microsoft want him to want.
Shower of money-hungry bastards!
