Peony

At last a new blip... I have been photographing our lovely peonies since the first bud, but none of them made it online until now... and this may be my last chance, as the fully open flowers are now heavy with rain and the wind is blowing, after an almost dreamlike spell of summery weather!

Their scent is so soft and fragrant, subtly changing as the petals turn from deep magenta to pale pink as they mature, and already the seeds are beginning to ripen inside.

As with everything in this swiftly passing season, it all happens so fast...
