Finding our feet, feeling our knees
It felt like it was going to be a chilled out day but it somehow turned out to be full-on one, without ever really feeling so. Arriving late last night, we had no provisions, so it was an early morning trip into town to find our bearings, have a coffee and croissant, and to do some shopping. After hauling the groceries up those 250 steps, we'd missed the morning bus run (they all leave at the same time) and had to wait for the afternoon one, giving me time for a 6 mile run out to Playa de la Gunacha along a wild and excellent path - with lots more steps.
We then took a bus, getting off in the middle of nowhere to walk a section of the GR131 from Ayamosna to Degollada de Peraza and many more steps. The scenery, as always in these islands, was utterly spectacular.
Waiting for the bus back we were adopted by the lovely Chloe, or rather, we all adopted each other, initially at the nearby bar to celebrate her birthday with a beer that we never got - for reasons that are still hard to understand - and then back in San Sebastian, over a few cold ones and some fine food, swapping life stories. I think I'd forgotten how many you have at my age!
The 250 steps back up to where we're staying were taken quite slowly.
