The Shire

We visited a hill fort this afternoon: Lambert's Castle Hill without any real idea what we might find there.  We just needed somewhere for a walk.

We found beautiful scenery; for some, apparently, this is the definitive place to see this countryside, and I can see why.  My photo shows Colmer's Hill, and you can see the side of the hill that I snapped a few days ago, as well as part of the Jurassic Coast and Chesil Beach, with Weymouth and part of Portland Bill in the distance.  In the Extra is the view before I got out my long lens, framed in part by the trees forming a barrier on that side.

There was something of Tolkein's Shire about some of the views.
