All Quiet on the Garden Front
I did my hour’s birdwatching this morning between 8.30 and 9.30 but was quite disappointed at how quiet the garden was, and how few birds appeared compared to a normal morning. My tally was the lowest I’ve recorded since I started participating in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch in 2021. My woodpecker came up trumps, as did my robin(s), blue tits and great tits, and I even saw a siskin, but of the other regulars – long-tailed tits, dunnocks, blackcaps and blackbirds – saw I none during that hour.
It was less quiet at the Johnston Road pond that we passed on our walk this afternoon! Many Canada Geese, ducks and gulls were in evidence, so that’s what have ended up as today’s blip.
