OPERATION SUCCESSFUL
BACKBLIPPED
First of all I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOUR. Your very kind thoughts, words and prayers meant a lot and were a comfort.
Hubby and I arrived at Preston Hospital super early, 6.45 am and found our way to DOSA (Department of Surgical Admissions). We were supposed to be there by 7.30 am. We actually got seen at 8.00 am, they'd been looking for him - well we'd been sat in the DOSA waiting Room for over an hour!!!!
Anyway no matter. I could stay with him right up until he was escorted to theatre. I then called my Sister to come to the hotel. I was only at the hotel for about 10-15 minutes and they arrived.
I was also on the photo to G who helped a lot just by being on the phone.
Sister and her Rob were both SO AMAZING and I am so very grateful. They took me to Barton Grange Garden Centre where we had some lunch - I could only manage the soup but it was very good.
Then we went to DeepDale Retail Centre in Preston. We had a mooch round M&S and I was at check out when I got the call to say the operation had been a success and Hubby was now in recovery. Well me being rather silly burst into tears and check-out, which made my sister tear up too. That must have looked really weird - luckily it wasn't very busy.
Rob (sister's partner, and yes same name as my Hubby) dropped us off at the hospital where we were told that he would be in recover for about 2 hours. As sister's Rob couldn't get anywhere to park, he went over to Booths and used their car park to sat in their cafe with a coffee. We joined him there for coffee. Then I got the call to say he was in his ward. I never knew I could get up 2 flights of stairs so quickly (well for me)!!
Sadly hotel beds are not long enough for someone who is 6'2". It's OK when laid down, but when he needed to be sat up his knees ended up around his ears - not great after an operation around the nether regions!!
Apparently the CT scanner was also too short they had to keep adjusting it!!!
It was such a relief to see him. Looking a bit pale but otherwise OK. He had the usual symptoms people get after surgery apparently but otherwise OK. Sister and I stayed with him for about an hour when we left him to rest.
We had a meal together before they went home. I then went to my room and burst into tears again. The face-timed G. I had also contacted those that needed to know and tried to sleep, but had very little.
I don't have lots of friends but the ones I do have are THE VERY BEST. So I was very lucky.
That's it for today.
