De turkeybus and Dirkibus
Poor Mrs Ottawacker is working, so up early with D & Ottawacker Jr to drive her in. Then we head off to The Scone Witch for coffee and scones, before heading to the Market. Everything is closed – which hardly gives the lie to Ottawa being a boring town. Manage to find the Librairie du Soleil – a French book store – open, and D gifts us both books. A couple of crackers, actually – Changer l’eau des fleurs and L’oiseau bleu d’Erzeroun by Ian Manook.
I invite the two of them to the Beijing Legend for dim sum. It was packed. Lunch was, as always, excellent.
More turkey for dinner – the one we had prepared.
Great chat with D after the Ottawackers go to bed. Talks of his career, and makes the very poignant and pertinent remark that we are both “split in two”, with one foot in Canada and one in Europe.
