Garden of a 1000 orchids

We stumbled across a living memorial to the slaves who worked and died on this former 16 acre sugar plantation now turned into a memorial to them.
Yet no mention was made of it in the tourist information except to describe it as a botanical garden and worth a visit.
It made very uncomfortable reading. A reminder yet again - who writes history?
