In the right place
Today we relaxed a bit because I had actually come away with a chesty cough which is actually really tiring to deal with!
But this evening we went to a friend's bar for fish and chips and to say hello. I have known Mark since I started coming to Ibiza to volunteer with 24-7 Prayer in 2013. Great to see him running his own place like a pro!
The fish a chips were DELICIOUS. We stayed for the first half of the Tottenham v Man City match.
We then hot footed it (well Gemma drove!) to the West End to spend the evening with our friend John (in the picture on the left). He runs a pub at the top of the West End strip and sadly lost his wife suddenly at the end of last August. She was a good friend of ours too.
John loves his football too and puts it on every week.
Another friend was in there and I hadn't seen him for about 5 years! It was like old times.
The result didn't go my way. Being amongst friends made it all better.
We had some great deep conversations despite the loud surroundings!
Gemma asked John how he was really feeling and it made him tear up. We knew he wasn't in a good way that night. And a little later I could see him struggling physically.
So I told Gemma and Aidy (on the right in the pic) and Aidy got everyone out of the bar. We got John to sit down and Gemma and I collected glasses and put a few rounds of the dishwasher on.
We also walked John's dog and then made him go to the medical centre.
Gemma and I were both saying how hungry we were and after an unsuccessful search for an open chip shop, Aidy gave us some ready cooked chicken from his own fridge in a nice bowl to take away and reheat! It was a funny situation but also summed him up- sees a need he can help with and offers his help.
We finally got to bed around 5am but well fed!
