Harvest 2..

Went a mowing again, around the veg patches, the tracks, the patch out the front of the house, and an area at the bottom of the croft that had a lot of thistles. It's tidy now. A warmish day after 17 mm of rain yesterday, and becoming bright in the afternoon..

Today's harvest includes mixed salad leaves with flowers, rainbow and swiss chard, spinach, kale (2 different sorts), and the first harvest of kohl rabi, purple and green varieties. Not eaten these myself, but they will be grated into a salad. There's a couple that have split so will try them soon.. The colours look wonderful, and I've left the leaves on as these will be used as greens.. One of the kales is actually borecole, Red Russian. We had some last night and it's wonderful, a cross between spinach and cabbage, tender and sweet.. This is definitely something I will grow again..
