Day 3 Bay of Fires tour

With my little toe cushioned and strapped by Jai, then after a false start with only 10 sets of lunch rolls instead of 11, we set off to The Blue Tier. It was jolly windy and cold! The first walk was the Goblin Forest walk ( one the the 60 short walks) with a blanket of lichen in places along side the path which resembles snow. The second walk from the same starting point was the Moon Rim valley circuit which climbed up to Mount Poimena, where is was very windy and had good views to mountains on the horizon. The group, apart from Emma are slow walkers.
A short bus ride to St. Columba Falls which also showcased the symbiotic relationship of huge fern trees with fig trees.
In the afternoon we stopped at the Pyengana dairy farm and watched the cows being milked by a robotic milking machine ( the first Australian farm to do so and 150 farms now do this). The cows come in for milking when their udders are full, about 2-3 times a day. They also get fed grain when they come in to be milked which encourages them to do so.
We stopped at the pub in the paddock where some of us had a drink, then it was back to the hotel.
The last meal of the tour this evening was at a restaurant at the wharf with lovely views from full glass windows over the boats and setting sun.
