Surprisingly Silent Sunday
Once a Robert College student, always a Robert College student. Every weekend, the sports field that overlooks the Bosphorus, known as the Plateau because it is the only flat piece of land on the 67 acre campus, is crowded with the families of alumni. They have the life-long right to use the campus as they please, which can be a mixed experience for those that live here.
However, this Sunday, no one came. The weather was lovely, so that wasn't it. Perhaps Father's Day is never celebrated by picnics in Turkish culture. I suspect that people are nervously staying close to home because of the protests. Things are just too unpredictable and people are taking comfort in friends and family at home. Makes sense.
