Chelsea buns

I had a work appointment on the other side of town today, so as it was a lovely sunny day I stopped on my way back to have a wander through Cambridge city centre.

Fitzbillies cake shop is a bit a local institution, it opened just over 100 years ago and is an absolute magnet for tourists – selling cream buns, pastries and the like. Its most famous product is the Chelsea bun, which it has been selling all that time and is something of an icon. Too sweet for my taste buds, but these two ladies were clearly entranced by its sticky swirliness :)
