Hill Top Ramblings

Backing

I have finished the appliqué! The final leaf has been stitched onto the quilt top.
As it was a reasonable day I decided to give the fabric a rinse before quilting it together. Fabric always comes with various chemicals applied to it to keep it smooth and stiff, but you don’t want to be sleeping with it.
I was a bit worried about washing the top as fabrics all shrink slightly when washed for the first time, and I thought it might go wonky. I gave it a good press while still damp and the seams have all flattened down nicely so I’m pleased I did that it.
The backing fabric is a lovely piece called Tree Fungi and is large enough to make the entire back with no seams.
On to the quilting!
