Constantine at York Minster
This statue of Constantine stands prominently at the side of the York Minster (the city's massive cathedral). A modest plaque reads: "CONSTANTINE THE GREAT 274-337. Near this place Constantine was proclaimed Roman Emperor in 306. His recognition of the civil liberties of his Christian subjects, and his own conversion to the Faith, established the religious foundations of Western Christendom.
We took the train here this afternoon; tomorrow afternoon we go on to the Scarborough area for a short birding tour. If I don't come up with a striking bird image, I'll probably blip the Minster itself--incredibly impressive.
