Candlemas

Daughter and family are celebrating Candlemas today. Actually the Blip days have got muddled and this should have been for Friday 2nd. Candles everywhere. It’s the 40th day after the Epiphany. A lot of people keep their Christmas decorations up until today including, apparently,  the late Queen Mother.

 Before this it was a pagan festival roughly between the Winter solstice and the Spring equinox. But not quite. Anyway, an excuse for a drink and gratitude that we have been spared through the winter and signs that spring isn’t too far away.
