They're back . . .

. . . we hope.

We used to get lots of Greenfinches in the garden, but hadn't seen one in a long time. Then today we noticed two, to maybe three. It was so long since we had seen one that we were even a bit unsure whether that's what they were. Funny how one expects them to be green - well that's not surprising really given the name. But actually they are more yellow than green. It was only when looking at the photos that I saw the unmistakeable yellow flash along the wing. 

Apparently there has been concern about them as their numbers decreased worryingly mainly through disease, so I hope these stay with us.
