Proper

Proper instrumentation particularly on vehicles for me is a must. There is nothing more soulless,lifeless and cheap looking as a digital readout. TFT screens are becoming commonplace on motorcycles and for me it would put me off buying that vehicle. There is little more pleasing to the eye than a set of clocks and dials and they are even better if made by Smiths. The one pictured in the blip is a true thing of beauty.

Sometimes I will just sit on the old tractor with its engine running.The beautiful sound from the three cylinder Perkins engine and the unfiltered smell of diesel exhaust and that warm smell of hydraulic oil is so good for the soul.The flicker of all the gauges and instruments in time with the irregular beat from the three cylinders just makes you want to put two fingers up to joyless environmentalists.

A good day on the nursery sort of.Spoilt by having to deal with the Dutch which is tiresome and can sap all the joy out of your soul.
