Time to say good bye
When I was young we were not a wealthy family however my parents provided everything that I required for a good life. I was lucky enough to own 3 Matchbox toys. I was given one each time I passed another piano playing grade. Unfortunately our piano was only on loan for 2 years while my uncle and aunty were temporarily living in England. My uncle was a doctor and he was furthering his medical studies in 1963 and 1964. On their return, the piano went back and my learning stopped, so no more Matchbox toys. I decided that one day, maybe I could own them all. It took me 10 years , starting in my 40s, to acquire a boxed example of each of the 250 or so regular wheels pre 1970 models produced. They have now been on display for about 20 years, but I feel that it is time to move them on. I will keep the Major and King Size models for the time being. A few of these are at the back, but many others are not in this photo. So here we go. Photos from all angles, descriptions, advertising and packaging.
