Each year Dalmatian House is host to the remarkable World Marmalade Championships! Last year there were around 3000 entries. This year, perhaps 3001? I’ve entered in the “Man Made” category. As a first timer I’ve had the pleasure of learning about setting points, pectin levels, taste colour & texture. I’m not expecting to win anything other than the pleasure of visiting the awards in spring, finding out what score I’ve gained and tasting as many different marmalades as possible. And enjoying mixing with a diverse bunch of wonderfully passionate and, at times, delightfully eccentric people. Ah, the world needs more marmalade makers.
