Hamnet

A fabulous afternoon/evening spent with friends. Some of us from our original book club, others Emily’s family but all of us had read Maggie O’Farrells Hamnet and were keen to see the stage adaptation of the book. We made an afternoon of it (trains cancelled so had to drive part way) and enjoyed food in a Greek restaurant before heading to the theatre. The Garrick was a new venue for me, we were up high! The seats had a great view although we were quite squished! The rumble beneath us from the underground added atmosphere strangely.
We all enjoyed the show though and agreed it had stayed true to the book, with some interesting additions and poignant scenes.
It was 2am before I was in bed so a lazy Sunday it will be.
