Olympus 35 RC Rangefinder

So there I was, quite happily shooting away with the OM1 in my hand when a friend turned and gave it an odd look.

Is that a film camera?

Yes I said, still like to give them an outing every now and then!

Oh, can you still get film then?

Yes?

I have a couple of old film cameras at home, one is an Olympus 35RC, it's yours if you want it but I am not sure whether it works or not.

Well, as one never to look a gift Horse in the chops I jumped with both feet. Finally got given it today and found that the only issue apart from a leaky battery was the aperture sticking. One hour and a lot of internet help pages later and the thing had been stripped cleaned and re-lubricated. The aperture now works and I have thrown 24 exposures of HP5+ through to see if it works.

Battery compartment has been cleaned and I am just awaiting a new cell to drop through the letter box and I can test the metering before going further.

Not bad for nothing eh?
