Branching out…

I got a lot of things done today (apart from getting outside in daylight, hence today’s rather basic photo!).

One thing that I did achieve was finishing, editing, proofing and submitting a short story to a major competition (the deadline is one minute to midnight tonight, so it was today or never!).

I have notebooks full of ideas for short stories, but it’s been a very long time since I finished one. In fact, the one I submitted today has been kicking around in my head for about a year. I did make a vague start on it late last year but wussed out of finishing it.

I started tidying the story up yesterday, and wrote the second half this morning. It’s not bad if I do say so myself, whether it’s winning a competition good remains to be seen, but I did a type of writing I don’t normally do and that’s a win.
