Daphne mezerium

I had a look around the garden today, nothing much is stirring but the were a few lovely blooms on the Daphne mezerium. This is a rather scarce native shrub, which flowers very early in the year. Should the weather warm up a bit, it has a lovely scent which can occasionally be smelt in the woodlands of Whitbarrow.
Unfortunately it seems to be very attractive to deer, and seedlings rarely occur.
They do grow easily from seed and we have been supplying some young plants for reintroduction to the local woods.
Good luck with smelling them out!
