We made it

To Cambria which is a small town on the pacific coast . It was the most gruesome drive of my life. Strong rain, fog and fountains of water coming from the trucks we passed made for minimal visibility and several times I was tempted to give up, leave the freeway and try again tomorrow. A storm warning had been issued for the whole southern part of California, which at least kept some drivers home so the freeways weren’t as crowded as they normally are. The picture of the map just shows one of these so confusing “ Spaghetti bowls” of freeways. North of Santa Barbara the sky lit up a bit and we were able to see some landscape.
The five hour drive turned out to be an eight hour drive with some resting stops, one is that dam in the pictures, and due to my very slow driving. But I wasn’t the only one to drive way slower than normal and way under the maximum speed.
When we arrived at our goal for the day, we had a dinner and fell both asleep sitting up in front of the tv.
