Not That Sort Of Carvery
This sort is the finest Jacobean carvery as seen in Bourton Church, South Shropshire. I was visiting today with grey cold windy weather threatening another storm in the Shires.
The carving is from the pulpit and is mirrored in the work on the lecturn and the reading desk.
I was amazed by it.
There are several interesting features in this church which dates back to the 12th century but in overall form it is quite a simple building and as such is easy on the eye.
Another afternoon of calm before the storm...
At home I received a panicked call from my wife who was returning from her parents in darkness and driving rain. On a busy bypass her windscreen wiper came loose and disappeared into the gloom. Her forward vision disappeared instantly and she was faced with glaring headlights coming at her from front and rear and unable to see the road or any other point of reference.
Amazingly she managed to pull over with hazard lights flashing and find a safe place to stop and call for help.
Long story short, the breakdown recovery came and rescued her (AA) and she was able to complete her journey in relative safety.
Phew!
The AA man was able to get a replacement wiper, find her by tracking the mobile phone signal and effect a repair in the most atrocious of conditions.
He could not believe she had managed to avoid an accident, and his advice to her was to buy a lottery ticket ASAP, as clearly her luck was in.
Another day of excitement at Ingleman Towers, and so relieved that we are still all in one piece and safe at home.
Praise The Lord!!
