The village rookery
The rooks are starting to build their nests in this tree in the middle of the village.
The tree sits in the garden of Shanghai House. It was built in 1850 for Captain Thomson a retired clipper master. Hence the house's rather exotic name!
If you look closely at the top of the photograph you may be able to pick out a passing skein of wild geese. They will soon be heading back to Iceland for the breeding season.
