Catkins
The Druids thought catkins were sacred and protective and the wood of the hazel was fashioned into whistles to summon up the air spirits. The word catkin derives from the Dutch katteken which means kitten as they look like fluffy kitten tails. The other name is Lambs' tails as again they resemble lambs' tails.
Who can spot the chicken - or two!
