Locked Gate On Public Bike Path

A follow up on my December 29, 2023 Blip, where I encountered a locked gate while riding on a public pedestrian / bicycle path.
 Today, I participated in the official hearing regarding the illegal construction of the locked gate across the public access pedestrian / bicycle path.
The hearing was an appeal, by the builder of the gate, to cancel the fines levied by the City of Eugene against the builder of the gate.
The hearing was also a petition by the builder of the gate to be able maintain the gate in its present position.
I was thrilled to get to speak about my love for the pedestrian / bicycle paths that I feel are gems in the outdoor ethos of Eugene and speak out to demand the removal of the illegal gate blocking public access.
It seems the gate has been removed as of today.
I look forward to riding this reopened path in the very near future.
I can hardly wait to learn the official outcome on this hearing!
The diligent investigation and follow through by the city officials on this deliberate and blatant law breaking made me proud.
