Chopped up runner beans in the big pot, ready to be transformed into pickles. I love the reflection of the beans on the inside of the pot.
This is the third and penultimate batch of bean pickles to be made this year. They are popular barter items, and I like to have about 15 jars in store by the end of summer. About 10 will be exchanged for honey, fish and venison. The remainder will feed me, plus a jar or two extra for emergencies. You just never know...
