The Edge of the Wold

The Wishing Tree and contrails

I said I would post a picture of the Wishing Tree when there was better light.  Today was a glorious Spring-like day, and there was a lot of blue sky and contrails.  Every day is different, and today as I write this the following day, it's cold, grey and raining again.  The crown of the tree that was blown out a few years ago still lies on the ground to the right.  The right hand side of the trunk is open to its rotting heartwood, but there is enough bark left to protect the active xylem and phloem to keep the remaining branches alive.

Every day is also busy at the moment.  As I was taking a photo this morning of the house against a blue, cloud studded sky, one of our neighbours asked if I was taking a photo of the palette sculpture in the front garden.  There is a mountain of pallets piled on the lawn since the land outside the small hedged garden has been cleared ready for landscaping.  Some of the palettes are going elsewhere to form compost bins, some are being chopped up for firewood and kindling, some may be returned to the building supply company.  In an event it is one of many things keeping me busy just now.
