It was easier walking up with the wet raw easterly at my back. The smattering of snow gave a grim day a lift. I hunkered down behind a wall on the reservoir’s edge and ate my sandwiches listening to a new analysis of the dissolution of the religious houses of England and Wales - about 850 in just four years between 1536 and 1540. It is actually fascinating. Traffic was heavy getting back into Edinburgh.
