Whisky Galore

Back Blip Thursday 8th February.

What to do when staying in Bridlington on a wild, wet, windy day?
You drive a few miles to Hunmanby to visit the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery.
Starting with a full Yorkshire Breakfast in the
Pot Still Coffee Shop overlooking the distillery.
Today’s photo was taken from our table looking through the glass wall.
We were lucky that just as we finished breakfast, a tour was starting at 11am
So we joined another couple and had a most interesting tour led by James. He explained every process so well and with such enthusiasm.
Afterwards we had a whisky tasting, or rather I did and they gave MrC three tasting bottles to bring home. Also gave us both a small tasting glass.

Filey Bay Yorkshire Single Malt whisky is made with 100% Homegrown barley and water from the chalk beneath their farm.
It isn’t just made In Yorkshire, it’s made Of Yorkshire.

I am someone who always said “ I don’t like whisky”. This goes back to when I first tasted it when I was about 20.
Well I am now converted!
I like it!
My favourite was their Filey Bay, Yorkshire single malt Flagship whisky. 46%. Matured in ex- bourbon casks.A light, fruity and creamy taste.
We finished off with a coffee back up in the coffee shop.
We will certainly be back and visit the coffee shop again.
Can highly recommend it if you are in the area.

The rest of the day was spent at Filey Dams in the bird hide, chatting to a gentleman who had just moved to the East Coast from Sheffield.
Then did some wave watching as the tide had come in. ( see extra)

We finished off the day with a fish supper at Salt overlooking the harbour. Yummy.
Don’t think any boats had been out today.
