First bike ride of the year!
Thursday
It’s not often we go cycling in February, but the mild temperatures and partly sunny skies enticed us out. I did put my leggings on rather than cycling shorts, and then a long sleeve T shirt and a sweatshirt, and I was plenty warm enough once we got going. We started at Peter’s cartridge factory, (top left in my collage), which I hadn’t done for a long time, since that section has been closed for a long time. The bike trail crossed over the road at that point, and it was a nasty intersection, as the road bridge over the river did a bit of a double bend just before the intersection, so you couldn’t see cars coming for very far, and vice versa. On the other side of the river, the road came down the slope fairly steeply, and with a sharp bend. The road has become busier over the years due to new housing, so they had decided to move the bridge, creating a more gentle descent on the other side, and leading directly straight ahead on this side, and also put in a tunnel for the bike trail to pass safely underneath - a great improvement. It doesn’t look very pretty at the moment, as it involved a lot of earth moving, which has been re-seeded and covered with straw over the winter. They have also added a paved, slightly bigger parking lot than what was there before., though we felt they could have made it bigger still. Being my first time out on the bike for a while, (Roger had been out a previous time), I found it a bit of a struggle at times, and struggled to make 10 miles return today!
It was back to handbells and choir this evening, having missed several weeks being away in Florida. We had several new pieces of music to look at in handbells.
Step count: 6,107
