...opportunities were limited today, since the number of shoppers around town is still quite low.

Then I spotted a suitable subject who appeared to be watching people almost as much as I was.

There were also a number of benches occupied by snackers (like my extra) who appeared to be avoiding the busy/expensive cafes.
