Breda Mural 23 -- 'You Are Welcome'

At the entrance of the building which houses the main public library and the music school.  The word 'welcome' has been spelled in a colourful fashion to reflect diversity, inclusiveness, and creativity.  The mural was only painted last year.

The building is in the Molenstraat, or '(Wind)Mill Street', but, according to the history books, no windmill ever stood here.  That said, keeping in mind my shot of two days ago, it is quite possible, nonetheless.  After all, Breda used to have fourteen mills.  I have shot some of the old locations but I stopped doing that.  Because.

It was during a rather brief sunny moment that I managed to shoot this, after a crappy drive squeezing in between everyone coming and going due to Carnaval.  The Molenstraat was shut to vehicular traffic so it was a quick park-and-shoot-and-back situation.  AW and I stopped celebrating Carnaval about 30 years ago, when we moved out.  Now we're back but the urge has long since died.  Northerners flock to the south for Carnaval so it is doubly busy in all Brabant towns.  Carnaval is a rather Burgundian affair, full of colour, beer, and grotesque costumes.

Thankful for a quiet day in our little neck of the woods.  Supermarket errands and kitchen duties, and the usual odds and ends.
