'Village Cricket'

This is Upton cricket club, formed 1901. Upton is near Birkenhead. I'm doing some work in the latter tomorrow.

It was good to see cricket being played with enthusiasm and no little skill on a lovely evening. The bowlers were mainly young aspiring 'quicks' but the only wicket I saw fall was from a very young off spinner. The rest of the fielding team were of rather more mature ages.
