ICELAND DAY 5

As we were waiting for the lift to breakfast this morning I noticed a strange cloud, little did I know…
#that it was from the volcano eruption!!! Wow…apparently it has damaged pipelines and many homes are without heating or hot water. In these temperatures that’s serious news.
# we got a taxi to Perlan…a fascinating interactive museum. Also an interesting structure.
# we watched a great show about the Northern Lights in the planetarium. It was very well done.
#Then we went to the ice cave. Although it was man made. It took a year to build with glacier ice and the genuine ash layer through it. Also it was freezing but fun!!
##silly photo opportunities
#and an ice throne for the Ice Queen!!!
There was a lovely viewing platform and restaurant at the top. We could see the volcanic smoke; which had reduced in the 2 hours we spent in the exhibition.
#Then we got a taxi to the Lava Show…it was so interesting and very informative in a fun way. Boy was the lava hot!!! And there was only about 2m of it.
#J went off to get a burger meal whilst The Rev, S and I ended our day with a tasty Vietnamese meal. (There seems to be a big community here).

A DAY TO APPRECIATE THE WARMTH OF HEATING IN SUCH FREEZING TEMPERATURES.
