A Day Worth Recording

Moore on the Tilt

We're en-route between Brixham and Torquay - a matter of a few miles apart but E has managed to find a garden to divert to.

The Dartington Trust Estate is a fascinating place.  Centred on a medieval hall, the gardens are much more 'landscape' than 'pretty' but certainly have their own beauty.  Central to the structured part of the garden is a multiply-terraced area named as the Tiltyard.  A tiltyard is where jousts took place, and you can quite see that possibility from the structure (clearer on the extra blip).

It also has a lot of snowdrops.

Overlooking the Tiltyard is this statue, "Memorial Figure, 1947", by Henry Moore.
