A Weed is a Weed, Or Is It?
I can never seem to remember this plant's name, with its sweet little yellow flowers. Oriental False Hawksbeard's leaves can be eaten raw, but are better cooked as a 'potherb' and are reportedly very mild when young. Be sure to boil it for ten minutes or longer for tenderness.
Native to eastern Asia, Oriental False Hawksbeard, Youngia japonica, is in the Asteraceae (aster) family. It has the distinction of being called a 'weed' nearly worldwide.
