Hanging out ?

This piece of orange something has been hanging from this branch for several months. I keep taking a photo for Blip and then finding something better. Does anyone know what it is ?
The day has been spent usefully , the car was picked up and taken off to be repaired leaving us with a small automatic courtesy car meanwhile Jess and family were mid air on their way to Sweden.
The bright mild weather invited us outside , I picked up two bags of litter and then did a few garden jobs. How nice to feel the sap beginning to rise . I caught up with a neighbour / friend who had spotted some birds nesting in our eaves , House Sparrows I think. I’m delighted to have them , they nested here two years ago but didn’t return last year.
Listening to the news doesn’t bring good cheer , in summary Europe lacks the means to defend itself if attacked and it will take 10 years to build up stocks. We all need to spend a greater percentage of our GDP to fund it. There has been deceit and lie telling with regard to sending defence invoices to which ever department in NATO does the reckoning up .
It’s hard to know what to think , I hope that the Newsagent’s podcast and / or The Rest is politics cover it . They usually have something useful to say , often with clarity but without being shallow .
This evening we will bury our heads in the sand and watch the second episode of the latest “Great Pottery Throw Down “ series which we had completely missed . It always leaves us feeling cheerful!
